sea bass

Post by bigshrek »

I was just wondering if anyone has caught any decent sea bass out of the light house or econfina. Not sure if anyone fishes just for those but me and my friend have been catching 10-13 inchers in about 10-12 foot of water and they are fun to catch but im just curious if they get much bigger than that?

Not really unless you go way offshore...13" is huge for 10-12 ft...

I was fishing with another BBF member, (Hard Knox) a couple months ago and he caught one that was 17 inches out of Keaton beach in about 6 foot of water. Sucker had a head like a bulldog (the fish, not Hard Knox.)

Yes we have caught some good'uns out of Econfina in the past. Just go out to the bird racks and look for spotted bottom in 8 to 10 foot of water and straight jig any kind of grubs on the bottom and catch em up. We have caught some that was prolly 15 inches or so but most run 10-13 inches. Great table fair also. :lick:
