Lanark and beyond 9-16-11

We tried our hand at some close in grouper with no luck. (Did not know what I was doing). We did manage 1 llllarge Spanish on an olive X-Rap. Lost 2 more good'uns. After trying our hand on Dog Island reef for trout with no luck we came back inside to look for some trout. We caught a dozen or so but only one keeper. The day before we fished behind the state park on SGI at the first boat ramp. There are a lot of reds in there right now. We caught several short fish but we missed several nice fish that we could see chase our top water baits. We also caught 3 trout that were all short. I guess I will have to change my name to shorty! We had a great time last week thanks for the loan of your water and the advice we received. It may be spring before we can get back. :smt010 Maybe a short trip in October. (keeping my fingers crossed on that one). Keep on fishing!

Happy to hear you had a good time. The keeper trout are all a little deep right now. If you have pilchards that you have cast netted you are going to catch better fish.
