Headed to KB this weekend. Nautic Star has been sitting since 4th of July weekend, so took it out on Friday. Fished for a couple hours in 5-8 feet. Caught several shorts and a couple sail cats. Only 1 keeper trout.
Took my son's 16' foot aluminum boat out Saturday and started in 5'. Began picking up trout pretty quick. Caught about 15-20 trout with 6 keepers. Decided to move in shallow and try for reds. Got in some very skinny water - so skinny we were getting stuck constantly. Anchored the boat and began wade fishing. There was bait EVERYWHERE. Saw about 10-25 reds scattered around multiple bars with tails in the air feeding. Could not get them to bite. Way too much competition for their attention. Did not get one red. Frustrating.
Had a great time with my son and weather was great. Can't wait til next time.
