Intelicast - WINDcast Question

Post by Sir reel »

I was checking the Intelicast WINDcast for the next 3 days and I noticed something that I'm not sure is correct or perhaps I've just never noticed it before (always a possiblility). When I open up the window to select a day and time, the map is displayed however the time and day displayed at the top of the map is 3 days ahead of the one I selected. In other words, if I select Thursday 18:00 Z, when the map is displayed, it shows Sunday 18:00 Z. All the selections produce a map that says VALID for 3 days later than what was choosen. Is this the way it should be?

EXAMPLE Selected Thurs 18:00

HEY BUD, I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT YOUR QUESTION, BUT ACCORDING TO MY WEATHER FORCAST YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WIND FOR THE NEXT WEEK. WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT RAIN EITHER FOR THIS SAME TIME PERIOD.

But the weekend according to NOAA...

HIGH PRESSURE EXPECTED TO
BUILD IN WELL TO THE NORTH OF THE MARINE AREA OVER THE UPCOMING
WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT WEEK. THIS IS EXPECTED TO LEAD TO A PERIOD
OF SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY CONDITIONS ON FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY
MORNING BEHIND THE FRONT...WITH ADDITIONAL PERIODS OF NEAR
CAUTIONARY LEVEL CONDITIONS THEREAFTER OVER THE MARINE AREA AS
WINDS VEER FROM THE NORTH TO THE NORTHEAST.

Anybody got an answer as to why the date and time doesn't match between what is selected and what the map says?

Just guessing, Sir reel, cause it is pretty weird, :smt048 but thinking maybe you have clickable option to scroll through more frames for different times. :smt017 Or maybe its a snapshot at the end of an animation video. :o

Not that it helps any, but Harmsway picked my brain. My thoughts (rare of course) exactly. Unless, the site is just plain wrong. :smt102

Sorry, I searched the entire site and found no answers. I did, however, find a current wind speed map at the top of the page. I tried changing the days from the drop down and the "Valid" day did not change. The times are listed in "Z" time which is "ZULU" or Greenwich Mean Time (the time in Greenwich, England) which is even further confusing.
I think I will just stick with http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/shell_point It seems to be reasonably accurate and easy to read.

Thanks fellows. The possibility that the display doesn't match the day and time selected is what bothers me.

A lot of folks depend on the map to determine if they are going based on the amount of blue along with how close the gradient lines are together. If the display is 3 days off that wouldn't be to good of a forcast tool.

Does anyone have a live wind map?
The windfinder is a prediction also.
The windfinder says N at 15 right now.
The actual is 0 to 3 mph.
WHOSE FISH IS IT?
