Hookie prefishing

Post by Salty Gator »

The two fellas I was supposed to fish the seatrout shootout and I got the rare opportunity to take tues off a do a little prefishing. Our plan was to fish the aucilla area, but rock friendly boat was in the shop. We decided to put my boat in at the lighthouse and run way east. We put in at 10:30, high tide was 3:30. We hit a few creekmouths and other well known bayous on the way and did squat. 1 17" trout and 3 big jacks taken on topwater plugs and a few cats. Around 2 we ran to the area we wanted to drift. On the first drift we threw everything that the grass would allow. Getting to the end of the drift, dejected I throw out the old rookie rig. CT new penny gulp. With every cast I was catching trout. After a couple of keepers, Rich ties on a ct. After a few more nice fish, clay ties on a ct. We are getting bitten on every cast. Some shorts some nice ones. We set another drift, getting into trout and rich hooks a bigun
