Normally, FDOT will construct a temporary bridge and divert traffic while the new bridge is under construction. They will not close major highways for any length of time, especially in low-lying areas during hurricane season. Any consultants / construction companies working on a FDOT project have to submit a traffic control plan - showing how they are going to keep the roadway open while they complete the road work.

I don't think this will have a big impact on our fishing or JR's business, but if you need to get more details, FDOT District 3 will be completing the work. They can be reached at (850) 638-0250.

Wish I had known that it was actually open. I saw the sign saying it was going to be closed and took 259a(I believe it was) to Ecofina tuesday. 6 miles of it are dirt ugh!
