We took them and it went off great . Children had a ball ! Little windy to start with but fish cooperated anyway. The bite slowed about 10:30 at low tide. My little angler caught 11 different kind of fish according to my calculations. trout, blues, cats, a nice little shark, assorted junk.....ect. Like Sir Reel said, these were the most well behaved, polite, and appreciative children you'll ever see. This was my first time but I'll be first in line to sign up for the next one!

My buddy John and I took out one boy and a chaperone. The boy will tell you he caught 17. But 15 were pinfish. One keeper trout was all. I would say it was a very slow day, but he had a ball. He thought it was great when we hit a huge wake too fast. We saw some dolphins. This was our first time for this event, and it was a very positive experience for all. Nothing broke. New friends were made. Wish you could've been there PA.

JHults11 and I took two young men fishing. There were 2 keeper trout 1 spanish and a number of short trout with some other species caught. The kids had a wonderful time. They were incredibly excited when they were able to pull a fish in, especially when the Atlantic Sharpnose Shark was caught. I certainly hope they had as good a time as I did.
This was the 1st time I participated in this event. I hope it will not be the last.
Especially memorable was the young lady walking around the park with her Spanish Mackerel, inviting all she met to touch her fish. I believe that if given permission, she would have taken that fish to bed and to school with her.

Sorry you couldn't make it PA. We looked for you. Wanted to meet you in person.

We took out a 12 year old girl and a college student who had tutored at the Home. We didn't catch any fish but they had a real good time.

Many thanks to Don England and the Home for this special event.

Think the little girl with the mackerel was my little fisherman. She had a ball with it . Also let her steer the boat for awhile, she loved that.

We took 2 girls, one 14 and one 16. We had a blast as well. We fished the rock garden area. They totaled 5 keeper trout. Two 17.5's a 16 and two 15's. We released the 15's and many shorts. We had pretty consistent action until the tide stopped moving. It was unfortunate that the tides didn't cooperate with the time we were given to fish. We cleaned their fish and sent them home with a nice sack of fillets. We went out in the afternoon without the kids and did well on trout and a 30" red. We will definitely be back in next year. Thanks again Don for putting on a great event.

Pa sorry you could not make it, hope you are feeling well. Yes it was a great day to take the kids fishing. I took Garret and Steven and it was Stevens first time on a boat . he had instant sea legs,NO FEAR. fishing was a little slow but he was nonstop-eating,drinking,playing with bait net. when he did catch a fish, he was all screams and wanted to touch it. After catching a few pins, they became his pets and did not want to use them as shark baits. Back at the dock for lunch by !pm, you should have seen all the smiling faces. I want to thank all the captains, their wives, fishin buds and family members , this would not have taken place without your help, you time, and your resources. Looking forward to next year.

Good morning Earl.

I know you were anxious to hear some news from the event and I apologize for the delay in my post.
We certainly missed having you with us. I kept look'n for you and was afraid I'd missed you before I read that you hadn't been able to make it. We understand that sometimes things have to be postponed for various reasons. You’re still very well thought of among this group and we appreciate your comments and participation when you can. We know you are a man of your word and you don't take your commitments lightly. My first mate this year was Tripp McElroy. He and his family are new to the area, moving here from Birmingham. Super nice fellow, who did an outstanding job. I appreciate him helping me out at the last minute. My youngster this year was a very pretty young 15 year old lady by the name of Debbie. She had fished before but always from shore and had never fished from a boat. We started off on the West flats. The tide was going out and with the North wind it was skinny where I had wanted to fish. So much so that I couldn't get on the North side of the flat that I wanted to fish so I could drift across it. I had to run in on the South side as close as I could and then drift away from it. We hadn't been there very long before we hooked up to a Pompano just over 16 inches. First one I've ever caught. Boy those things sure pull. I had another one streak by the boat and hit my plastic fluke just as I was about to lift it out but missed the hook. With the water going out I pulled up and headed east and started drifting outside of Stony Bayou. We caught several shorts, some pin fish, and saw a pod of Dolphins rounding up lunch, one big turtle, butterflies, and a 20 1/2 inch trout to end the day. Even though it was slow for us, Debbie never complained and continued to do her part.
