This is a deer killed by a friend of mine the other evening while we were hunting a soy bean field. These pictures were not photo shopped in any way. I know this because I took the photos. I know it is not a great rack, but I have never seen one with a extra horn growing from the side of his head. You cant see it in the pictures, but it felt like he was trying to grow another one out of the other side. My question is has any one else seen this before, if so what causes it to happen? Judging by the tooth ware he was a 3 1/2 year old deer.
I don't know why he grew an extra antler, but based on the way that side is a little messed up I'd say there was injury in his past. Looks like he was still healthy and eating well.
