Interesting meeting/Contact for boating in Leon County

Post by bman »

By accident met with Josh McSwain- he is the Parks Supervisor for Leon County. And in charge of maintenance, upkeep, and changes at Leon County Boat ramps.

Had a great talk about access for several lakes and why some of the ramps have been changed to hand launch only. Sounds like some boneheads have tried launching flats boats at Lake Jackson dirt ramps in Leon County. Then called to complain when they got stuck.

And a guy out on Talquin that backed over the end of the ramp trying to squeeze in next to another boater... jerked his axle off and threatened to sue the city.

Even told me a story about a Georgia boater calling to complain about changes at an Lake Iamonia ramp that were requested by folks in Leon County

Anyway- I suggested BBF as a group that could give him some local user feedback on plans they have.

He was a level headed regular guy... I think if we had a concern or request he would listen.
