grouper fishing Oct 22,23

Post by Carlabear »

Left out of St Marks and started trolling in about 27 feet. Trolled to around 36 feet. Had double knock downs one spot but caught only one of them. Pretty impressive though. Never did mark fish on bottom but went over some excellent bottom . Bottom fished with frozen pin fish and lys. Had 2 great days on the water. With just 2 in the boat could only keep 4 gags per day. We were throwing back 24 inch fish. :( It was great weekend. Caught so many gags that we had to quit fishing. We were trying to get our limit of red grouper to go with our gags but kept catching gags. We ended up with 6 grouper both days with gags to 30 inches. Awsome. The best color on stretch was the chartruse.
Had the water to ourselves on Saturday except for the Florida marine patrol. Checked off shore in the new boat with twin 225s and of course we were legal.

Checked Sunday at the fort also. Have pictures if anyone can help post.

When does The gag season close? Thanks Carla bear. :smt006
