Perfect Refuge Wadefishing conditions Saturday
North winds to 20 knots, mid-day negative low tides. Rare opportunity to wade fish Stoney Bayou all 2+ miles from the levee to the mouth, and scout holes. I'm starting at 10am, if anybody wants to join the fun and isn't afraid of a little mud.
Okay...a good bit of mud. But worth the work.

Ya'll better look out, he's been feeding them fish all year just biding his time until they're good & fat.

doubtful...just another day fishing. They 're all fun; if fish are caught they're even better. Go with Gary he'll show you what I'm talking aboutJumptrout51 wrote:You may be awfully embarrassed next Saturday smacker.SHOWBOAT wrote:you should go learn to catch some fish before next weekendJumptrout51 wrote:Word...NO!

Brian, I'm heavy into cross-country season with my kids, with two races next weekend. If I can get assistant coaches to cover, will try to out there for the tourney. Have only used my luvly 21lb Kevlar canoe three times since getting it, and the tides look nice for paddling & portaging next Saturday. Hope to join you all!

A fishing trip with Gary is an adventure you'll never forget. Make sure you have a will.

This is actually a pretty safe time. Cooler temps have slowed the gators way down. They were just snoozing in the sun on the banks of Stoney Bayou yesterday. Hooked some nice reds right in front of their noses, and they didn't even bother to chase them back to me. During the summer, as soon as you hook a fish while wading near a gator, it turns into a game of keep-away. Sunday, with air temp around 60, wadefishing was almost relaxing!

sounds fun Gary. Any big trout?

Apparently the trout were exluded from a Gulf Coast 23" redfish convention that was held the length of Stoney Bayou. The reds - all precisely the same size - hit everything I threw nonstop all afternoon, but nary a trout showed up!
