Any insurance agents out there?

Post by red_yakker »

Got a letter from my homeowner's insurance company. My policy is being dropped because apparently the pictures they took were from before my mobile home was completely setup and I had stairs with hand rails, skirting, and a buried septic tank. I've sent them pictures that should straighten it all out, but I'm kind of pissed at them right now and am thinking about shopping around for a new policy.

It's a 2000 year-model single-wide mobile home.

Hey Red Yakker, I can give you my 2 cents. I am a 20 plus year agent and currently work as a company rep dealing only with Independent Insurance Agencies in North Florida. I can tell you there is not much of a desire from insurance companies to write Mobile Home business. I am afraid your shopping options are very limited as most companies look for reasons to get off risks then to write them. If they have offered to re-instate the policy with proof of completion or repair of the property concerns, I would recommend you explore that first. If that doesn't work, send me a message and will be more than happy to give you some referrals of some good agencies in town that write a good deal of mobile home insurance. What ever you decide, do not let your policy lapse as it will make finding a replacement policy very difficult and expensive.

I've been insuring mobilehomes for 15 years and its getting harder and harder to find a market for them.

Who is the insurance company you're with now?

Just had a client in the office with a mobilehome in Wakulla County. Out of the 6 companies I have for mobilehomes, they all said NO, and I had to write it with Citizens.

bbb is the guy you want to talk to. They have doing it a long time and always put the best interest of the client before their personal work load or gain. Good Luck!
