I agree with Showboat. Take them fishing inshore. There are lots of interesting things that they can experience. Rays, dolphins, manatees, even sharks. Fishing w/ shrimp will, most often, at leat produce action which, for most kids, is fun.

Funny because you HAVE my number and know what kind of boat I have and hell have even been on it yet you won't ask me to take you and the wife and kids fishing! DUDE

I ask a simple question. Who on this board didn't have his/her first fishing fun not cork and worm fishing?
You got the boat, you know the water. Depending on their ages a big ole bream, stumpknocker, crappie and occasional bass on a cane pole or bream buster or a spinning rig with a beetle spin - shoot that's how I gained the first of many thrills and gained an appreciation of the sport.
It may be a little chilly now but a simple ride up the river brightens up anyone's day... we are so spoiled by our beautiful waters. It's no real surprise that non-boaters or those newbies that get the chance to get on the water will fall in love with it.

Definitely stay inshore. Have plan A, B, and C thru Z ready. The minute one get's restless move on to the next plan. Here's a few, depending on the season.
A. Catching bait. Bream hooks and small piecs of squid, bacon, etc..
B. Live bait under a popping Cork. Absolutely the best way to entertain youngsters.
C. Scalloping(During Season this will entertain them for hours)
D. Swimming(To cold now)
E. Crabbing. This time of year youngsters can sometimes wade in the shallows and find enough to have a great time.
Hopefully others will have plans F thru Z ready. Here's the most important thing: The minute you run out of events and someone gets restless. Go home. Do not hesitate.
As a parent, I failed at the most important thing, and now have a college student who won't go with me.
