Finally moved inside

Post by Williamsdad »

Went out Friday and fished the area/pattern I've been fishing for months. Very slow day, only some sheepshead where there have been reds and trout. Changed up Saturday and went up the east river for the first time in a long time. 3 reds and a shhepshead in about 45 minutes before having to go. Brought home a 22" red and the sheepshead for dinner. For a change, the Mrs. fried the filets, and by accident, used powdered sugur that she thought was flour.

Sweetest fish ever!

Flats are very clear, real easy to see fish, if they were still there.

Ooops on the powdered sugar, but a nice day on the water. I had a gut instinct about going up East River but changed my mind. It sounds like I should have listened to my gut.

Friday was a hard day for me at Keaton. Grandson out of school and we had promised. Small craft warning up that morning. negative tide around ten with 20 knot gust and 10-15 knot winds from the north aiding the negitive tide. Cold weather moved in that night with high pressure sitting on us plus a full moon. All signs pointed to a bad fishing day.

Close inshore seas were almost smooth with winds coming off the land. Drift kind of fast that morning but winds died down in the evening.

Any fish was hard to find but managed to catch six keeper trout. Grandson caught several shorts and a large blue.

Others may have filled the boat but we had a hard time finding fish.

Yep, there're moving in. Over the past two days, I hung out in a few creeks north of East River and caught a few trout and a flounder. Today should be a warmer day. I'm hoping to get out for a few hours and locate the reds that have been avoiding me. I'm craving some grilled blackened redfish.

I caught a few reds up the river last Wednesday. Oddly enough, I also caught a couple of nice spanish by the bars in front of east river. Kinda late for them to be hanging around. Also caught a ton of small black sea bass everywhere I went. Bass on (un)frozen shrimp, reds and spanish on cut bait.
