Keaton report

Post by IRATHERBFISHN »

Went down to Keaton Friday and I didn't think I was ever going to get the boat in the water. Between the wind blowing from the north and low tide we didn't have enough water to launch until 2 hrs before high tide. After finally getting in the water we had a good evening of fishing. Used mainly 4in white gulp shrimp all day and consistently caught fish but they were consistently an inch or so short of the slot limit. The bIgger fish bite did pick up 30 min before sunset and we got 4 keeper trout during that time. All in all it was a good day because a bad day on the water is always better than a good day at work.

It was a slow day for me as well. We, my wife and grandson, I, got six keeper trout. Like you, we caught a lot of shorts. Nice day on the water especially with our grandson.

One trout caught on a white DOA shrimp. All other caught on cut pinfish.

Hey IRA,
Where did you put in at? I've never seen it so low that you couldn't put in at the public boat ramp. The lift...yes. You still have to be careful at the ramp. a coup[l weeks ago, I saw a boat back down too far trying to launch on low tide at the public boat ramp and the wheels fell of the end of the ramp. Had to get someone to pull him up.

That was the problem we ran into. We had the trailor tires on the edge of the ramp and the boat wasnt even floating off the trailor. I've unfortunatly also backed up to far at the keaton public ramp once before and had the tires go over the ramp. I learned from that experiance and will never do that again...
