St. Marks Fishing

Post by tallykenjsbetterhalf »

So, we fished here and there today. Finally, hit the nursery! We caught baby trout, reds, flounder, white trout and something else? I figured their parents must have dropped them off at the St. Marks nursery and headed to happy hour at the Riverside Cafe. Kept casting though to see if we could catch their baby sitters! No luck. Hoping for another 22" red like the one we caught Wednesday. No luck. Where are the keeper fishies? We'll try to find them tomorrow. How's flats fishing right now?

Welcome aboard, tallykenjsbetterhalf. :smt006 Ya'll done better than me up the river; a few chasers on glitter baits, but never a nibble. I'm thinking shrimp was the key; right? How'd it go on the flats? Don't lie now! :smt083
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

Welcome to the "Zoo" tally-----------half. Were you fishing up the river or out near the mouth? Just wondering how far they have moved in. Lots of 30's weather coming this week, maybe they'll move into the river better.

Live shrimp, high tide, above power plant. We pulled over 20 Reds within an hour. Biggest going 24", many over 18".

Never did catch a Trout, several Sheephead and Mangove Snapper though.

Thanks for the welcome! Caught a 22" red by the power plant. Went out to the lighthouse on Saturday with no luck. One small red. Headed in and stopped on the way in and must have caught 30 black sea bass. 11 keepers all around 13". They were after anything we threw in the water! Great Thanksgiving vacation coming to an end. Can't wait until Saturday! :D

Could someone tell me where the power plant is and the best way to get there, i.e. where to drop, tides, etc?

Many Thanks!

If launching from Shields or the Fort, go up the St. Marks and around the bend. The power plant is on your left. Can't miss it.

We've been catching several Trout 5 miles up the "O" river for the past 3 weeks and the Reds have been in the river all year round this year. They should be thick around St. Marks now also.
