Wanted: Older Flats Boat

Post by silverking »

My longtime fishing buddy who now lives in the Destin area on the water is looking for an older 16-18-ft. traditional flats boat like an Action Craft, Hewes, Backcountry, etc. He has a big boat already, so he doesn't want to spend more than $10,000 and will consider hulls only or boats with blown engines. Outboard make is not as important as low hours, if the engine does run. Options like trolling motor, electronics, etc. are an added bonus but not a deal-breaker.

He's only looking for poling v-hull flats boats, not Carolina Skiffs or similar models (tons of those everywhere).

If you have a Hewes or AC-style flats boat you want to get rid of or know of any within a few hundred miles, please pass details and contact info along.

Thanks,
SK

Did that already, Pa, and there are none that meet his criteria (name brand, v-hull, poling flats boat).

Thanks Jason. Sounds like a possibility. I've passed along your post to my buddy, John. He's the one who can afford two boats, not me.

I have an awesome 1997 17 ft. Osborn (made in Winter Haven) flats boat. It has a 2000 Johnson 115 with a four blade stainless steel prop. It jumps up on plane in a heartbeat. It also has a Min Kota Riptide RT80 24v., a Humminbird 788ci combo GPS/Fish finder, live well, bait well, polling platform, and a spacious deck. All of this for an incredible $4,900.

You can reach me at mcomins@me.com. Here are a few picx.

Thanks for the responses, but my buddy found a great deal on an Action Craft from a guy in Tarpon Springs. Just what he was looking for.

The Osborn looks like a good deal for the money. Shouldn't have any trouble selling it.
