Handheld GPS Wanted...

Post by Steve Stinson »

My Garmin 60CSX didn't want to fire up for a trip to the Aucilla yesterday morning. If any of you have an old handheld you would like to sell, please let me know. I could actually use two of them because my wife has take a liking to kayaking and she needs one too.

Let me know what you have. If nobody has one, I will resort to ebay or craigs list to see what I can find.

Thanks for your help.

By did not fire up, what did it do or not do? Do you think it is repairable, I could take a look at it if you would like?

Yes, I'm a cheapskate. No, it doesn't need batteries. At first, the buttons on the right hand side of the unit were not working, then none of the buttons would work, then it wouldn't turn on. I have all of my waypoints stored on my laptop, so I have not lost any data, just the gps.

Beer when you press the power button, it blinks but never turns on. You are welcome to look at it if you like.

Will - your price is out of the cheapskate's after Christmas budget.

Seahorse - I would be interested in yours if everything works on it and you have a download cable for it. I am tied up with family until Tuesday when I go back to work. If you will give me a call at 509-3116, I will arrange to meet with you and take a look at it.

Thanks - Steve

Call Steve Rat. I sold him an old Garmin a while back. I don't remember the model. I don't think he's turned it on since he got it.

Steve,
Just got my West Marine holiday catalog in the mail today (12/27--called WM to let them know), but they have a sale on new Garmin GPSMAP 76Cx color units. Normally $249, on sale for $149. I'm sure they'll honor it through the first.

I have the 76C for work/back-up and it's a nice unit. Not trying to undermine any deals from forum members, just wanted to make you aware of this sale.

All -

I appreciate your help. I met up with Jay (also a forum member here) at West Marine yesterday and bought two of the ones they had on sale.

Thanks - Steve
