Newbi (oyster bay ramp)

Post by JT74 »

Hi all, New poster here. thought I would say hello and ask my first question. I grew up at shell point and was brought up with a pole in my hands. After a long break Im getting back into fishing my favorit spots between sprink creek and the lighthouse. I have a 15' john boat pulled by a car. I have been using the shell point ramp but noticed on here that there is one at oyster bay also. Down dirt road third left. How maintained this ramp? i.e. can I put in with my car or would i need a truck. Thanks ahead for any responce and I should give my first report after the weekend. Taking a sick day for my first "fishing only" trip on Friday.

Also anywhere to get live bait on the way down to shell point?

Hello JT! And welcome aboard!
Not sure which ramp you are talking about. The ramp at the old Shell Poiont marina is mostly open on the weekends. There is one on Blue Dolphin drive on the way to shell point.....this ramp is concrete, but there is no parking. You shouldn't have any problems launching with a car. There is also a ramp with parking behind the Spring Creek resturant. I don't remember if it's paved or not, but the launch angle isn't very steep....so a car shouldn't be a problem there either. They do charge to use their ramp....it's $5 or $10 dollars.
Wevans, on this site, can help you out on the Bottoms road launching....

As far as live bait, we either go to Jerry's, (link on this site), or Crumbs in Panacea.

Good luck! Looking forward to your report.

Welcome JT :D I'm not the best source for answering your question but I'm confident you'll get some good advice here.

Jerry's is on the west side of Woodville Highway, about 1/2 mile north of Wakulla Station and well north of 98.
