We will be kayak fishing and I was wondering about these 3 access points: Five Pine Bend - Pompano Cove - Anderson's Flats

How do you get to this access points? Walk in or can you drive?

Not sure how far you can drive past Eagle Harbor...but you can go past it...seen people on the beach down there before..Cabin Rd goes all the way to the Cape...not sure if you can take a POV up there though

Chalk's right. Unless you want to portage a long ways, Eagle Harbor is the best place to start. Then you can paddle as far as you want or until your arms fall off. There are a couple places towards the head of the bay, but I'm not sure if they are private or federally-owned (near the AF base).

Why would you want to drive over there, though? There aren't any fish and the water is downright nasty.

Three of us did a couple of days on a sea kayak trip/fishing/campout in the Park. We had a permit from the park (get it at the entrance gate) to use the primitive campsite near the tip of the Cape. We put in on the ocean side across from Eagle Harbor, in 3-5' seas and big surf. It was a whale of a time. After we got through the surf line, we paddled a mile or so offshore to be out of the breaking waves. We then paddled parallel to the shore to the tip, and it was really fun (I think it is 8 miles). At the tip the tide and the surf was creating great big standing waves, and they scared the heck out of me. However, that 17' Necky just handled them fine and we got around to the Bay side. Once there, we beached at the campsite, unloaded the stuff, set up camp, and I went fishing. No one else around, pristine sky, windy, fishing slow but plenty of good food to eat, some rum and chocolate, and to bed. In the morning it was windy, rough, cool, and we stayed a while in the tents hoping for calm seas. Nope, rough and a 15k wind in our face. Loaded up the boats, and headed into the wind. Every wave broke over my bow and it was like paddling into a raging river. After a few miles I was out of gas, and the other guys had to come back for me. I wound up walking the shore and dragging the yak for a while, and then got towed in to the harbor while paddling. I felt really bad, but it was the only way to get back without walking the whole way. A heck of an adventure.

To thank them for the tow, we stopped in Apalach and I bought them seafood dinners and beers.

The Bay is a great place to kayak, or the beach.

Luck,

EJ

either Eagle Harbor or the hand launch across from the big boulders on CSP are where you want to put in. From the hand launch it is only about 3 miles to Black's Isalnd and there are plenty of reds and flounder between. Good luck
