My day started a little slow but the weather was cooperating nicely. I got on the water around 9:30
While waiting for the tide to come up I decided to do some scouting around the Rock Garden.
There were probably fish there, but I could not find any.
I decided to try one of my "go to " spots. The tide still had not quite gotten as high as I wanted. While trying to get into the flat I wanted I saw a Red moving from right to left. He looked like he saw me and I thought he probably would not hit my lure. I cast anyway. Just as the spoon was approaching the Red and I had just about conceded that he would not eat, GULP. The fight was on. A couple minutes later I boated this nice 22" Red.
As you can see, something tried to make a meal of this fish before I caught it.
After finally getting to my "spot" about a dozen casts produced this 20" beauty, (without a bite taken from it)
A little later I caught a 14" Rat Red and called it a day.
All fish were caught on an Aqua Dream spoon. All fish were released. I will take advantage of the increased bag limit on Reds later this year, but I didn't need the meat.
I am glad I can still catch fish. After my last two trips i was beginning to wonder.
By the way, I want to say hi to Woopty again. Saw him going out as I was coming in. I hope his day was successful.

Re: Rock Garden and Points East 2.5.12
Great to meet ya FF. Thanks for the report.
Thanks SS for lookin' out for us after we had a ornery shift cable.
Didn't seem like winter. We saw life everywhere we stopped but put nothing in the boat.
So I guess we'll call it an exploratory trip.
