Are these people completely insane......do they not understand that the same country they fought for 10 years(Iraq) and did no better than a tie....we all but destroyed the Iraqi Army TWICE !!!!! And we did it in such a way that it shocked the entire world.....The greatest Military in the history of the world was pushed and prodded until it was forced into action......Again, what are these people thinking.....we whooped the country yall fought for 10 years, and we did it in 10 days.......are you really thinking that yall can keep nipping at the heels of the Big dog and remain safe.....
I'm getting sick and tired of these nut cases in these 3rd world countries acting like they can do what they want , when they want as far as dictating policy that effects the USA....Hopefully a new President with new policies will be at the helm of the country soon....one that if provoked will allow a whole heap of them trouble-makers to meet this allah guy they keep running their traps about.
It's pretty simple. We have fought two wars in the region (one still active, the other active by surrogates), spent trillions of borrowed $ on them , killed or maimed many of our young men and women in uniform, and most Americans are real tired of the wars over there. I am for sure. So, the chances of opening yet another open ended U.S. led conflict to do something or other isn't appealing, and the Iranians know this.
Because of political unrest the Iranians are worried they are going to lose control, and the existing sanctions have put the economic squeeze on the country. As a result, they have lost a lot of oil money they would have otherwise had, and posturing in the Straits of Hormuz raises the world price of oil. Thus, they can jack the price up for virtually nothing, make more money, and blunt the effectiveness of the sanctions while thumbing their nose at the world. If they get nukes all bets are off, though.
Regardless of who the next President is, the same pressures will exist and not much is likely to change, even though Obama nailed Osama.
It's actually simple. The Iranian govt is loosing control of the populous. Iran has the largest under 30yr population per capita than any other country. The younger generation is becoming more and more progressive wanting "blue jeans and MTV". If the theocracy forces the US into a conflict they think it will curry favor with the young people and rally them in an "us vs them" mentality and they can hold onto their power.
He knows nothing will happen during an election year. Also, he knows we can't afford another front in the never=ending Middle East conflict. Been going on for 2000 years, and will go on for 2000 more, no matter what we do. Plus, like what was pointed out, his antics drive the price of oil up. And not to worry, our friends in Israel have things under control. They are the ones with the most to lose...and the means to prevent anything from getting out of hand. Oh yeah, and they already have nukes.
Tom has this one nailed. Mister Mullet, if our politicians would get their head out of their butts, there is NO need to put boots on the ground. Bomb their butts back into the stone ages and come home. If we take out most of their military and all of their nuke capacity, the regime will fall.

Thats my point!!!!!! we have the ability to make any conflict with Iran extremely short and sweet.....we are no longer "walk softly and carry a big stick" to " walk softly, dont brag, dont boast, try not to stand out, dont appear superior, try and fit in, and above all else, be politically correct".....
and saying "obama got UBL" is like saying "Bush got Saddam" Neither happened...it was boots on the ground, US of A troops that did the "gett'n"....a guy sitting half a world away in a room watching a monitor didnt have anything to do with somebody getting "got".....
