St. George Island inquiry
Hey gang, looking for some basic direction here - maybe you can help.
My wife and I are renting a place on SGI for a few days during the kids spring break with another family- that family will be towing their 18 foot flats/bay boat down to enjoy some family and fishing time on the water. We typically fish between Panacea and St. Marks and have never (not once) had a boat in the water or whetted a line on or around SGI.
I'm wondering if anybody has any basic to moderately detailed advice for us. Are there any areas that might look good on a chart that you would skip? Are there any general areas you would target more heavily? Looking at the map there appear to be plenty of small bays, pockets, creeks, etc - but I know that maps and charts can be deceiving and something that looks "fishy" on paper can often be an arid desert beneath the surface.
I really appreciate any help anybody can offer.

Re: St. George Island inquiry
First here is a web link to boat ramps in the area.
http://fishingdestinguide.com/boatramps ... EORGE.html
With a 18' flats boat I would use the sand ramp at the end of the bridge on the island. When I fish that far south from me in Carrabelle, I fish behind St George and little St George. If your looking for trout use grubs or live.dead shrimp under popping corks. Pompano and Spanish Macks are beginning to show up. Try the cut or the east end of St George for these.
When you get down go to Fisherman's Choice in East Point and ask for some info on what's biting. They are great folks. Or you can see Larry @ Island Outfitters for some local info.
Watch Panhandle Outdoors daily TV show via You-Tube for up to-date fishing reports. http://www.panhandleoutdoors.net/
On You-tube just search for Panhandle outdoors.
Good luck.

Another spot. Put in at the State park at the second ramp. Go aound the point east a mile or more and there are some great flats in close. Warning: Lots of shallow water and oyster bars. Stay in the channel going out and coming in.
Re: St. George Island inquiry
Thanks guys - looking at GoogleMaps - where is "Little St. George"? And by "Second ramp" in the State park, you mean the one farther to the East?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Little St. George is on the other side of Bob Sikes cut. In between St. Vincent and SGI. East cove is what Seachaser i believe is referring to, the first ramp is the boy scout camp ramp and the second is in a channel off of East Cove, zoom in and you should be able to see it. Waded out in East Cove in October with some friends, caught trout, ladyfish, and a redfish with red headed jigs with yellow grubs and gulp shrimp (new penny) under cajun thunders. Have fun and tight lines!

Thanks guys. I really appreciate all the help. I use Google Earth on my iPad, and it turns out that if you go to googlemaps website you can view the Google Earth map too. Excellent.

Little SGI is about 7-8 miles from the nearest public ramp and seas can get rough on the way back. Be careful.
