Tucker Lake 3-4-2012

Post by CoastalPirate »

Apologies for the double post, was confused as to where this body of water fits in the fishing reports. Have been wanting to try this place for a long time! Got out there with my wife around 10am, fished till 12. It was cold and windy. Don't know why we still launched with white caps, oh yeah I remember because we wanted to fish! It was about 45 degrees including wind. Wife was freezing but she pushed on, seriously she insisted we fight it to catch at least one fish. Water felt a lot warmer probably about 60. Fished on a low tide....DO NOT FISH ON A LOW TIDE AT TUCKER LAKE. Forgot my depth finder so I had no clue what the depth was until I put my rod in the water to measure and realized we were fishing in about a foot in a half of water. Almost ran aground when trolling towards opposite side of lake. Saw lots of mullet, but caught nothing. Used Gulp new penny shrimp 3" under a cajun thunder, a DOA chartreuse shrimp, a golden spoon, and a worm. Definitely going back when the tide is high or when I am equipped with my depth finder. Awesome little brackish body of water. Yep, that's my boat, proud of her....and my wife!

Yeah I drove back there once and it looked awesome.
Haven't heard any good reports about it though. All I need is someone to tell me they caught some trout or reds in there and I'm going.
I used to have one of those little boats man they are great! Yours is way nicer than mine ever was.
Keep us informed!

Its a beautiful and peaceful place to fish! I highly recommend it as a place to kayak, but not for bigger boats. Why? Most likely one of three things might happen, you'll damage your motor, spend a majority of time scraping mud or run aground. This is from research and one day of experience on LOW TIDE. If you haven't already look at my post, http://www.bigbendfishing.net/phpBB3/vi ... =1&t=28948. Some of your questions can be answered there along with some pretty funny comments from the community. Best of luck if any of yall do head out there soon and remember GO AT HIGH TIDE!
