MARCH 10TH KEATON BEACH TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Post by sorifish »

The Clubs 2nd Tournament of the year was held at Keaton Beach. We had 28 boats to fish in beautiful blue skies and a nice breeze…NOT. The wind blew, blew and blew some more but didn’t stop some hefty stringers at the end of the day!

1st place was taken by the Team of Lucus Ross and Michael Aman w/ a 5 fish stringer that weighed in at 14.30 lbs winning them $285. Congrats!

2nd place team of Chuck Collins, Trinka Collins and Jeff Trent weighed in 5 fish for a total weight of 13.66 lbs winning them $171. This trio also had the biggest Trout of the day. The Trout weighed 4.29 lbs which won them $260. If that wasn’t enough, they also took the Red/Trout combo with a weight of 10.90 lbs winning them an additional $140. Lastly, the trio weighed a 1.61 lbs Flounder winning them a $50 Kevin’s Fine Guns & Sporting Goods gift card. Awesome!

3rd place was taken by Jayson Blue, Tony and Leada Sadler. Their 5 fish stringer totaled a weight of 13.60 lbs winning them $114. Tony earned them an extra $50 by catching the biggest Mysterious fish sponsored by MERIDIAN SURVEYING. The Blue fish weighed 2.15 lbs. Good job!

The Redfish pot went to Seth Oaks and Brian Blackstock. They weighed a 7.08 lb Redfish winning them $410.

A BIG Thank you to all who participated and congratulations to those that did well!
Remember in tournament fishing there is always next time!
Lastly, I want to remind everyone to Thank and Support our Sponsors that help the club thrive!

Our next tournament will be at Rock Landing in Panacea on 4/7/12. There will be more information posted on the Club website, BBF and Facebook in the near future.

The wife and I showed up to weigh in, with a decent bag, but when I saw the fish coming to be weighed, I knew we were going to get smoked, so we went and cleaned up and went to dinner at Roy's in the Hatch. Lots of good fish caught, in some tough conditions. Congrats to those who put big fish in the boat.

Sir Reel and I found 2 honey holes for the 'shorts' but I am sure he is not giving that up in a million years. ;-) Couldn't come up with the close-in shallow fish but we suspected they were there. We did get in some good practice for someday when SpaniMack is the Mystery Fish.

Had a great time with Sir Reel as usual, and really enjoyed the cookout fare. :lick: Thanks to all who worked hard on that.

It was a tough day for my team. We fished outside of yates creek most of the day. Only found 6 keepers, none over 20. We never did get shallow up by the oyster bars. It was our first time in the area. We used gulps mainly and tried tossing different hard baits. Fun day, just wish we had at least caught a limit each.

forgot to say, we saw a solid 7-8' , what we think was, bull shark that came right up to the boat.

The story I heard was that a rivet popped out of his partner's boat and they were taking on too much water to fish. They went to the ramp and did a temporary patch, enough to get them back on the water, but by the time they got to the happy hunting grounds the weather had deteriorated to point that the bite was off and they were not able to weigh a fish.
If I am wrong, please forgive me, but that is the way I heard it, which is not always the way it was told.
