Freshwater Fishing Spots

Post by tlw1970 »

Hello, I am looking for recommendations for good freshwater fishing spots in or around Tallahassee (large lakes or rivers) that do not have restrictions on boats with gas motors. Thanks!

Yup. With Jackson as low as it is bigger boats are out of luck pretty much leaving Talquin. If you've never been there before, watch your behind. There are more outboard foots laying on the bottom of that lake than any other I know of :D We put in to Lake Miccosukee a while back with a 20 foot boat, don't know if you still can though.

At the right times the Wakulla can be alright, my dad used to fish a lot with buzzbaits over grass beds in the early morning and jump on them. Not much in the way of big fish there but it's still fun. The Suwannee bass in there have a lot more spunk than largemouth of the same size, fun on light tackle. The St Marks has its share of bass too, but like the Wakulla the super clear water makes you work for them during the day.
