2002 Duracraft 1860 question
This is my first post and my fist visit to the site.. very nice I will add too. I have a question that I cannot seem to locate any where on the internet. I just bought a used 2002 Duracraft 1860 boat w/90 2stroke yamaha - I have located and down loaded the users manual for the motor but cannot find anything on the boat. I would like to get a copy of a users guide. Not that it has a ton of extras, but there are a few questions I wold like answers to. The person I purchased it from knows less than I do on it. Poor choice to buy it from him? Naa - got the boat for a reasonable price and it is exactly what I was looking for.. Now that I have bored you all to tears.. does anyone know where I can get more info on this boat?

Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
Dura-craft went out of business. Very good boats by the way. Captain Randy Peart owns one and I believe it is the same year and model you have. I have fished from his boat and was impressed. Very stable platform. He might be willing to answer some questions about it. War Eagle boats are built by the son of the former owner of Dura-craft. Those folks might have some info for you.
Good luck and get out often.

Call Jacks Boats in Perry 850-584-2162.
They sold DC boats and may have a manual.

WHOSE FISH IS IT?
Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
Thanks guys, Yes I bought the boat locally (Lee Co) . I will give the guy in Perry a call, as far as posting fishing reports...well if my luck this year is the same as last.. wont be a lot to tell. BUT, when I get my boat ready, I'll be going a lot more and in more places. Boat needed a little TLC and I have been going over it with a fine tooth comb all week. First thing I had to do was fix the trailer lights and put a new tongue jack. Today I got all the lights working and the trolling motor running. it looks like this Saturday will be the maiden voyage. Just need to purchase a fire extinguisher and I'll be legal and water ready. Still baffled about a switch on the inside starboard wall. It's hard for me to read but best I can tell is it is some type of reserve slide switch,

Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
Duhh, guess I should have thought of that .

I have looked all around the tank and with the limited knowledge I have on this, I didn't see a reserve tank, however there are two fuel lines coming out of the tank. one goes to the motor and the other is laying across the tank and open on the end.

Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
Looks like you should have a small reserve tank that the line should have been connected to.
PS: Is it possible that the tank has been replaced? Many tanks have a small section inside them that is partitioned in a way that when the tank is filled it fills all of it, but the small patitioned section has a seperate fuel line that is accessed by turning the switch to reserve, that way when you run out of gas, you know that you have a certain amount of fuel to get some place before you run completly out
PSS: After rereading your last post
You say that both lines are coming from the tank. They should BOTH be going to the switch "one main and the other reserve" and one line from the switch to the engine.

Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
I was thinking along those same lines. Now to get my hands on a manual.
Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
On our Motorcycles the reserve position uses the same tank but is connected to a longer fuel pickup. So when you run out on the main setting you just switch to reserve and it drains the rest of the tank. Just a thought. Can't tell much from the pics.
Congrats on the new to you boat. Hard to wipe the smile off a man that just bought a boat.

Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
Thanks rockyg, That is very possible with this case. I will try and get a closer look at the tank. If I could locate the valve then I could rehook the lines up..hopefully in the right order..would kinda stink to be running on the reserve and run out of gas.
Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
Hey, any idea on the process of hooking up a tach on the motor? 2 stroke 90hp yamaha. I have plenty of dash space but don't know where on the motor to hook it up.

PM sent!
Re: 2002 Duracraft 1860 question
Well to bring this to an end.. and a good one too.. seems the boat I bought has been through several previous owners, but the registration was never changed...but as luck would have it, the original owner lives right across the street from me and I have known him pretty much all his life. I was in the process of getting the registration in my name when the DNR people informed me that the bill of sale I sent in had the wrong name. The boat was still registered in the original owners name. My first thought was "crap" how am I gonna get this straightened out... they gave me the owners name and address and I almost fell out. I grew up with him and his whole family. Long story short - got a bill of sale from him, registration handled..AND he knows all the switches and features about the boat.. win win for me. Thanks to you guys and especially to dombern34 for the tips. Boat runs great and the wife likes it too.
