Sad day for Braves fans

Post by silverking »

Chipper Jones just announced he's retiring at the end of this season. He's currently the longest tenured active player with one club--18 years.

Sharing company with the likes of Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial and Eddie Murray among others, with more than 450 homers, 1,500 RBIs and a .304 career batting average, he's a sure Hall of Famer. He was the NL MVP and a seven-time All Star. And he accomplished all this with his natural ability, not PEDs.

Even more importantly, he's been a loyal Brave and the face of the franchise. He restructured his contract for less money and changed positions to help the team. It'll be the end of an era and the only way to send him our properly is with another World Championship ring and trophy.

I saw him play at the farm team in Greenville SC, when he just got out of HS. Skinny kid playing shortstop.

I would never believed he would have developed into the play he become.
Take a kid hunting or fishing and you will be rewarded.

a truly class player, as much of an @$$ as he can be in real life, I wish him the best. He has always been one of my favorite players to watch and always put him on my team as a kid playing video games.

but I gotta say... GO DODGERS!

I'm a big Chipper fan also, but is there any way to know For Sure he never took ped's? The only person we can assume that wasn't involved with ped's during the steroid era is No One. I don't think he looks like a guy that took roids or hgh, but, neither did Andy Pettit or Brian Braun. Hate to see him retire, great player

Chipper has always been great with the Braves, but I'm still a die hard Dale Murphy fan. I don't think he got the recognition he deserved. JMHO.
