Thanks to Kevin's

Post by bman »

I broke a Shimano Clarius rod over the last week. Took it in and they honored the warranty.
Walked out with a new one!

Nice to deal with folks that care and do what they say they are going to do!

Ooh, wait...I broke a Clarus too - but here's my question - what did they charge you for the deductible?

Sorry, I should have given Kudos to Kevins also. I broke a rod tip on my Shimano rod a month ago and Kevin's honored my warranty. Just charged me $15 and away I went with my brand new rod!!!

I know my rod was less than a year old because my boat is less than one year old. They did not question my lack of receipt or purchase date.

Kevin's is great!!!

I hung around for a while Saturday. I could spend more than I could pay back in that place.

Wolfman, if it is less than a year old, should be free. If over a year $15. That is the policy for gloomis and I believe it is the same for shimano. Love rods with a lifetime warranty.

Shimano's warranty is lifetime and they do not charge $15.00. We exchange them without any fee. Must be an in house fee. :smt011

I love Kevin's but they charged me $35 because the rod had been "upgraded" since I bought mine a little less than a year ago.

I figured it was better than a new $90 rod, but now that I am reading CairoTrout's post...I am feeling a bit duped. If Shimano's warranty has no such fee, why is Kevin's charging it?

Stuff like this is how places get a reputation.

Good question wolfman. I like what I'm hearing from cairo trout. But Kevin's is a 3 min drive from my office. They take good care of me. The other thing about the warrantee, you can upgrade if you like. I had a 10 yr old GL2 twopiece that I paid around $185 for. When it broke in 2010 it was listed for $220. Upgraded to a pro green for $25. If you break a rod you are not crazy about you can change. CT if I'm up that way I'll stop by for some shopping for sure.

Broke a Shimano Crucial last year, I walked in South Ga Outdoors and exchanged the rod at no cost to me.

Need to be clear. When I got it from Kevin's they explained the policy and I was happy.
Broke the rod because of abuse... not a factory defect. Normally I would take that on the chin and buy a new rod.
Walked into Kevin's and out with a new one as promised. I call that good service.

I appreciate you Cairo Trout- South Ga Outdoors is good people too! Just a lot further from my house.
