Econfina 4/1/12

Post by dombern34 »

nope this report isn't an April fools joke!, we left out of my buddy's house in Thomasville around 6:45 this morning got to the ramp with everything ready to go at about 8:00 we launch the boat and head down river. i probably only went about 400 yards out of the mouth and to my left and set her down. was in about 2-3 foot the whole time first cast was a keeper and they just came in one after another. we had 3 people in the boat this morning and we had our limit by 11:30 and left them biting only made 2 drifts. this is probably one of my best mornings I've had in a while.about 80% of the fish where caught on Glow jerk shad 5 inch some with just a jig head and some under a Cajun Thunder. the other 20 percent came off a cotton Cordell gold and black in color. like i said i was maybe 400-500 yards east of the mouth and about the same off the bank. i hope someone else can find that spot and take someone new to the sport and have a blast. couldn't have asked for a better weekend weather was Perfect. started out nasty looking but turned into a head to toe sun blocker by noon. made it to the ramp with all my gear this time no lost coolers. probably due to the fact i have not yet replaced the other one. but hope everyone had a good day boat ramp was slammed today so I'm sure there will be other reports following this one!

At least you got out there. We were going sat but called it on account of the weather. Sunday had other plans. Nice catching especially with the poor tides.

Nice fish! Did you catch any reds?

At least you made it 400 yards east and didn't sit between the tripod and the bar. Yeap, 2 boats sitting there on my way in at 4:30 yesterday; the skinniest portion of the River.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.
