St. Joe Bay 6/20-6/21

Post by birddog »

Put in at Presnells Sun. and Mon. morning. Chased the trout south of Blacks Island both mornings.

Bite was slow but steady. Caught all but 2 keepers on live shrimp. The other 2 were caught on 1/4 oz. jig w/SWA (cotton candy) under a c/t cork.
Caught 1 redfish on a quarter sized pin fish that was willing to sacrifice himself.

Lot of floating grass on the bay so didn't get to fish topwater much. The water was clear and I didn't see any scallops.

2 day total =
10 keeper trout 16"-23"
few throwback trout
1- 22" bluefish
1 - 18" redfish
too many ladyfish to remember
and way to many hardheads to remember.

The bay was as pretty as ever and I can't wait until July 3rd. Gonna spend 7 straight days fishing the bay.
