Shell Point Sunday
Thinking about taking the family and Pelican down to Shell Point and launching from the beach with my son assuming the weather is great. Can anyone tell me if there is a gnarly current right off the beach that would take advantage of my 30lb thrust trolling motor? When I say Pelican I am referring to this awesome boat:

Re: Shell Point Sunday
Sunday - East wind around 10 knots becoming southwest 5 to 10 knots in the afternoon. Seas 1 to 2 feet. Protected waters a light chop.
No gnarly current. I'd take a paddle for back-up though.

If you do put in on the beach there keep in mind of the channel markers, they are right off the beach. there could be a lot of traffic over that way this weekend. Look on your map to the east for Walker Creek, its kinda protected from the winds with a few oyster bars to wet a line and from time to time can be good for a few reds and trout. Not a lot of boats will be up in there, it's where I turn my kids loose with their jon boat. NOTE watch out for the guy in a blue/white Maverick he an arse that thinks he owns the whole creek and drives like a bat outta hell

CP, I kinda like weather underground marine map; http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/GM/730.html
Just go to http://www.wunderground.com and choose Marine Maps (in Maps and Radar tab), the drill down to your area of interest. Right now, for Shell Point, it says, "Sunday - East wind around 10 knots becoming southwest in the afternoon. Seas around 1 foot. Protected waters smooth to a light chop."
You might also like Windfinder; http://www.windfinder.com/forecasts/win ... da_akt.htm. Same thing, finf forecast map and click on area of interest.
