Port St. Joe 4/4- 4/7
Annual fishing trip to the bay with my buddy on Wed. Got there shortly after lunch, got the camper set up and waited on mother nature. She did not disappoint. IT GOT ROUGH!!! We were setting in our camper wathching the guys pop up next to ours virtually rock off the axles on one side. This all lasted about an hour and half and when all was said and done, the roof on Presnells was gone except the plywood. Went out Wed. afternoon for a couple of hours and boated 2 keepers. Thurs. am went to the north side and buddy boated a nice 24" and we had a couple of more to go with it. Top water seemed to be the ticket. Went back out Thurs afternoon with not much success. Most of the afternoon was spent on the southside of the island fishing the shallows and ledges with gulp and top water. Friday morning arrived with some stiff north winds. Decided to surf fish on the south side of the cape Nothing. Friday afternoon saw a falling tide with north west winds still howling. What the heck, we went. Fished the southeast side of balcks along the channel and my buddy boated a flounder on the first cast. Told him that he had just jinked us. Well, was I wrong. Fished for 2 hours working gulps along the ledges bringing back 6 flounder, 2 trout and a redfish. I was fortunate enough to have caught the the trout, redfish and the flounder. . Sat. morning got up to cool northeast wind. Went out about 8:30 and fished for about an hour half on the northeast side between Presnell's and Blacks. We fished top water exclusively and boated 8 nice keeper trout in that short time on a single drift. Great 3 days of fishing between the weather events. All the guides are doing well on live bait limiting out in no time. I do not have the resources to do that, so it is artificial for us. Go, they are biting!!!!!

WHOSE FISH IS IT?
Re: Port St. Joe 4/4- 4/7
That was a crazy storm last wednesday. Was at Cape San blas last week and had fished out of Presnell's wednesday morning and had to come in early because of the engine not getting gas and having a bad fuel line. But it was the good lord looking after us because that storm hit a couple of hours later.. caught some flounder and smaller trout before we came in..

Iv'e never fished over there, but have always wanted to try it. Looks like you know how to catch them. Nice mess of fish.

Hit-n -miss, it is a nice bay with no oyster beds. You run a ground, tilt it up and ease out. At low tide you will have to travel west of the sand bar to get back north unless you have a real skinny boat. Water is clear and there is a lot of visual throughout the day while fishing. Lots of grass and pot holes.

Gonna try it one of these days. Bet the crowd during scallop season is worse there than at Keaton.
