I asked that question when we stayed there in May.
The people in the tackle shop said, that the same people that run the Panama City fishing pier will be operating it.
They are waiting for insurance and similar matters to be finalised and it was hoped it would be open before the end of this Summer.
There was no information about charges (if any), hours of operation, etc.

I thought that the folks who are taking it over run the Pensacola Bay Fishing Bridge if you want to run a search, they have a web site, you could email them

I'd rather fish from my canoe or a power boat, but the Bridge would be fun to try at least once... There might be a bunch of giant sheep head around the pilings, and they are a blast to catch on light tackle...

I emailed the Captain also....

I took rodbows advice and sent Captain John an email requesting information about opening the old SGI bridg for public fishing. Here is what Captain John had to say...

"I am working with the county to operate it for them. There are plenty of details to hash and it is just now becoming a pressing issue. As I understand it now, the county will be upgrading the rails , adding lights and a concession /restroom facility . If we are succesful in finalizing our license with them, it would probably be January or feb for opening... Thanks for your interest.. John Soule 850-380-2219"

So it looks like it is going to take some time for them to work the details before it is opened....
