You can tell folks are protective of our resource. Its better than most folks around here know.
As far as places to try on your own- I've hooked up with them from St.Marks to Indian Pass.
In the area your asking about the outside end of Alligator Point and Turkey Point Shoals both produce fish.
Use the search function and you will find some good info...
Being new to the area, spending the day with a guide would speed up the learning process!
I can recommend (Silver King) David without reservations... http://www.captaindavelear.com/

Thanks all, for the plugs.
And Barry, my wife is the only one who calls me David and that's when she's mad at me.

Yeah. About as much as I like it when they anchor up in front of my drift.hmaadd29 wrote:I've always wanted to try the beach in front of dog island. Seems like a good place. Just never can make it out their.
What ever you do don't set up a trout drift and blow in front of anyone on anchor fishing for poons. They really really really really don't like that. It's annoying.
Get my drift?
WHOSE FISH IS IT?
Re: Tarpon

Funny thing this topic is. For several years now I have fished the tarpon grounds around Lanark and Aligator point year round for many species including tarpon. It always cracks me up when silly season arrives and "guides" show up and try to bully me off "their" particular sand bar. Even more humorous is the hookup rate per boat from those trying to land poons with a fly -much less actually landing one. It takes lots of patience and many, many hours and trips to have much success--even when fishing with a guide.
My advice is to get familiar with the dozens of sand shoals between Bald Point and Carabelle. Most of the successful tarpon fishing around here is done when the migratory fish pass through. June and July are the best months for this. See you out there!
