Wading @ Mashes Sands?

Post by WolfeMan »

Family beach day tomorrow and, because I have to, I'm bringing a couple rods and my inshore gear. I have no kayak and I've never waded there. Any quick tips?

Much appreciated!

I think you would have better luck wading bald point. There is a large oyster bar network on that side of the bay.

Before we had any boats we waded at both Mashed and Bald Point. Caught more fish at Bald Point but we had success at both places. Just be sure to shuffle your feet, lots of stingrays!

Well, I waded until I found a little creek, fished the mouth with a gulp on a jig head and hooked up on a fat slot redfish. Good to feel the rod bend and hear the drag sing a little! The kids loved checking him out. He made the trip home on ice!

I'll be heading out between there and BP for some sunrise wading myself!
