Reading charts question?

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

I have one of those florida sportsman charts, does anyone know how to get gps numbers for a spot on the chart that you want to check out? You know like a hump or contour. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :-D :-D :-D Is there a formula or something?

Most nautical charts have the lat lon scale on the sides of the chart. You draw a straight line from the point to the side of the chart, and one from the point to the top/bottom of the chart. The numbers along the top and bottom are longitude, the side numbers are latitude. Here is a piece of a chart that should explain better.

I am convinced that the next Budweiser commercial will be "Real Men of Genius--Tom Keels" "Here's to you Mr. Give Us Poor Working Stiffs Something To Do Every Night We Can't Be Fishin' Guy."
