Keaton Beach 5/02-5/06
Had a good five days fishing Keaton Beach with my good Friend Bil from PA that comes down each May for a fishing extravaganza. Peng also joined us on Friday. Caught limits or near limits of trout and reds each day with a smattering of sea bass and a single spanish mackeral. Water temps ranged from 76-80 on the 2nd to near 84 on the 6th. We fished in depths from 2-7', with most of the trout caught in 4-5' and most of the reds caught in 3-4'. Picked up some nice trout in the 26+ range and several large reds. Fished pin fish, plugs, salt water assassins, and gulps for the trout and spinner baits with salt water assassins for the reds. Most of the trout were picked up on pin fish, but Bil had some great success on the 6th with his teaser / plug combo. Bil hooked up with a large ray that he played with (or should I say it played with him) for a half hour or so until we got it near enough to the boat to figure it out.
