Re: I WANT TO KILL A DOG

Post by WolfeMan »

We had two big dogs (a lab and a golden retriever) and one morning I let them out into our fenced back yard and noticed the retriever sniffing around the kids swing-set very intently...I walked over and there was my neighbors cat, dead and cold. I know it wasnt there when I went to bed, and the dogs slept inside, so he must have crawled in and died over night.

The neighbor still thinks my dogs killed their cat.

We're down to 1 dog now though - the aforementioned lab got cancer and we put him down a few months ago.

Hate it for your daughter, thats super sad.

Sorry for your loss. but here is an amusing anecdote..We have an older Pug. The cats we have were born on his bed. So they have some what of a bond..Anyway a few months back a large stray dog entered the garage and started to fight with our Pug.. The dog left rapidly with one of the cats on his back claws dug in.....yeehahhh... We have to give two or three dogs, cats a month to the shelter because people drop them in the vacant lots in front of our house. Love em all just cant keep them ...

Sorry to hear of the loss of FeFe. Those darn cats have a way of making their way into your hearts, and then when they leave, it hurts everyone. We lost one under similar circumstances. We believe it was a Fox that did it. There were only a few small tufts of fur left behind and we buried them. :smt010

Here in Georgia, the Governer just signed the new Viscious Dog act. One of the provisions is that if the dog has ever harmed a person or someone's pet, the owner will have to carry 50 grand insurance, and can not have the animal off his property unless it is under direct control of the owner (Leash or cage).

I like dogs and cats, but some owners think their animals have rights to run anywhere with no consequences. Not on my place they don't. Years back, we had dairy cows, and some neighborhood dogs would go after the calf just after it was born. Our policy was to shoot to kill. Had a few folks threaten to sue, we told them to go ahead, a good dairy calf was worth more than a dog.

Of course, nowadays, you just do it and go hide the evidence, since the animal police will start screaming. Hell, animals and prisoners have more rights than I do today.
