Re: Lake Jackson draining again
Was at a listing near Millers Landing so I had to stop and look.
Not as bad as I expected! There is a ridge across the lake that may keep the water up in some areas.
We will see as the weeks go on.
Never thought I'd be praying for a tropical storm!

Re: Lake Jackson draining again
I read elsewhere that there are two main sinkholes, Porter Sink near Faulk Dr., and Lime Sink closer to Shuckers. These are separated by a berm/ridge, so some water should remain, until Lime falls out.
I think we need a couple tropical storms and some t-storms like we had last week before things get "better."

I didn't mean it was near Shuckers.....just back towards it. Maybe this will help.

Re: Lake Jackson draining again
Okeeheepkee is the Creek Indian term for “disappearing waters,” and the original name of Lake Jackson. This is whar Porter Sink looked like today.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

Here are my pics from yesterday. Harmsway, I think ya'll were down there the same time we were. We walked all the way around the "crater". All Carter could keep saying was "This is so awesome!" I'm glad I got to share this experience with him.

It was fun watching the GW get on everybody for driving down there(lake bed) and checking everyone for a fishing license that had a pole or dip net.

Yeah, RR, Savannah said, "Hey, I know that boy!", and wanted to say hello, but somehow we lost track of ya'll during all the commotion.RiverRunner wrote:HHarmsway, I think ya'll were down there the same time we were. Looks interesting, how would I go about getting there? What road do you take and park?
