She was almost on the rocks.

Great boat driving with a 80' dock tied to your boat.

Just got a notice from the Apalachicola Chamber of Commerce. A couple power relay stations are down in St. George Sound and the island is under mandatory evacuation. There was an electricity upgrade in progress with a completion date of July 9. Because of the storm, the upgrade will be accelerated and the repairs on the old stations abandoned, according to the report. Either way, it looks like several days until a damage assessment and repairs can be completed. So unless folks have generators, they're going to be without power once they are able to return to their homes/rentals. This "little" storm is turning out to be a mess, especially for a very busy upcoming holiday week. It's costing me several charter trips so far, and I know many other business are being impacted with damage, lost revenue, etc., as well. A good scallop season is doubtful too, with all the rain/runoff.

Oh well, the price to pay for living in paradise...

At least we don't have to deal with a gushing oil rig with no end in sight like before.

As they say, the solution to pollution is dilution. Just one of many releases to come I am sure:

"A partially treated wastewater release occurred from the St. Marks Wastewater Treatment facility authorized by @#$^$^^&@$ from DEP Pensacola. The release was 75,000 gallons directly into the St. Marks River.

Y'all must live right across the canal from our condo. Our boat lift is about four down towards the Bay from that Mako. I drove down there last night to get my boat and the fire truck evacuating people rode by as I was leaving. Water hadn't yet crept up into our carport, but it was rising pretty quickly and they'd closed the road just after the entrance to our complex...

They wanted everyone to leave but we dug in because we had some work to do. Just a little more water and a bunch of us will be screwed!
