Anyone familiar with fishing Daytona Beach area?

The wife's uncle is renting us (cheap ) his house there at Ormond Beach, which is basically the north end of Daytona, for the month of July. My fishing in that area consists of a one day charter trolling for dolphin, wahoo, mackerel, etc. about 15 years ago. If I can get some ideas I might tow the Seachaser 1950RG down there.
Anybody got experience for that area for the inshore or offshore fishing? I'll be entertaining family so it doesn't really matter if it's trolling, bottom fishing, or inshore for reds, trout, or tarpon or snook if they are around that area. I'm not having much luck finding reports so far.
Another option would be to throw the Gheenoe in the back of the truck and carry it down for inshore stuff.

Ormond/Daytona isn't a fishing mecca, so I don't fish down there a lot. When I go to fish, I usually go on down to the Mosquito Lagoon. If you have never been, Mosquito Lagoon is usually worth a try. I've caught some massive sea trout and reds there.

Most of the offshore is well offshore. Dolphin and Kings should be hot right now. When going offshore, I usually fish out of St. Augustine. Just easier to get offshore quicker. Put in at the public ramp near Comanche Cove, turn right out of the inlet and run out.

I have fished for redfish around the islands and spoil banks at the port orange bridge and cast netted for mullet up the river closer to Ormond. The mullet should be about right, unless all of this fresh water ran them out. Also, the inshore around St. Augustine can be good. Put in at the public ramp near Camanche Cove, turn left toward the bridge and run up river to the north. Fish points and creek mouths. Look for bait. Most fish for redfish with cast net caught live bait, live shrimp or cut bait up that way.

There are a couple of local tackle shops in Daytona and at the marina at Comanche Cove. You might google them up and give them a ring to see what is happening.

Fish the pier in Flagler Beach. Good flounder, whiting, Spanish mackerel, bluefish.

Thanks guys! I did some more internet research and it looks like I'll be towing the boat a little ways to fish Mosquito Lagoon just to see the place. I hope to get to run out of Jupiter Inlet some and maybe find a tarpon on bait pods or a king or dolphin. I'm spoiled by our area and not having inlets to have to run. They make me a little nervous. I hope I can get lucky and run over some bottom to send some bait and jigs down on.
I'll try out the pier at Flagler. Last time we came home there was bait schools getting busted everywhere up that way. There's another inlet up that way but I can't remember the name and can't tell from the charts and maps how deep and navigable it is.

fishing is supposed to be really good back in ponce inlet according to local FWC officers. i was down there recently doing some work on their radios and was at the coast guard station at ponce inlet. i saw several boats fishing next to the coast guard station but was too busy to see what they were catching. also, the dolphin view restaurant in new smyrna beach is a good place to eat. its right on the water. great food, and an even better view. its a pretty short drive south of daytona if you get on I-4.

Thanks! I've been looking at the inside waterway north of the inlet on charts and sat maps. Thanks for the tip on the restaurant too. We'll give it a try.

Boston Fish House in New Smyrna has the best seafood in the area. I drive from Daytona EVERYTIME I go to Daytona to eat there. It ain't scenic, its just about the food!
