My fishing day yesterday: Little Trout, catfish, sail-fin catfish, little trout, 2-ft remora, little trout.
Remora? Never heard of catching one. Gave up on fish, motored up the Wakula and watched 4 manatee play for a while.
Pretty dang good day.

What were you using for bait?
If cut bait, that explains your catch. Lures will help weed out many of the undesirables this time of year. Moving to a different spot when you encounter small trout/trash fish also helps. And remoras are common in the summer months on the flats, along with gar, small sharks and the often-cursed catfish. Sail or gafftop sail catfish will hit topwater plugs and jigs with power and fight well. Hardheads pull but aren't too sporty. I've never tried them, but I've heard sail cats taste OK once you get past the slime and spines.

Remora will absolutely tear up gulp too. If you hadn't heard of folks catching them, let me follow Silverking by saying you can catch them... by the hundreds if you want. Just hit midshore depths around rocks and structure, drop down gulp on a jig during the summer, and you can fill the boat!

I catch a few each year. When I catch one enjoy playing with them. With the suction socket on their forehead you can stick them to the outer hull of your boat or any other smooth flat surface. Once I stuck one to the side of my fore arm and it left a bug "hickey" once he let go. They are a good indicator that the "host", usually a large predator, is close in the vicinity. 
A good sign not to jump in the water to cool off. They put up a good fight, but I am under the impression they are not good table fare.

Was going to include Gulp! as well, but I didn't want to offend my occasional fishing partner, JT. It hurts his feelings when his favorite stink bait is slammed.
