Jellyfish

Went out at the St. Marks Lighthouse Sunday.

Zillions of jellyfish. Where are they headed and why? What effect do they have with fish being present, if any?

I DO NOT KNOW IF JELLY FISH HAVE AN EFFECT ON FISH OR NOT, THE LAST TIME CARL AND I WENT JELLY FISH WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE, 1,000'S, WE ONLY CAUGHT 1 KEEPER TROUT AND NOT MUCH ELSE???????

Yeah. Didn't catch a thing in the jellyfish infested areas on Sunday.

Flats Rascal- I think I have found the answer to your Jelley Fish question....

The ones we are seeing are "Moon" Jelley Fish and from what I read, they should not have any affect on the fishing because they are feeding on zooplankton like copepods in the waters. Here is an excellent link with pictures and is easy reading.... :wink:
