Aucilla report

Post by Dockwilson »

Put in @ 7:30 am. Ran out to the flats straight out from the river mouth drifted all day in 5-7 ft. Flat calm w a light breeze and over cast. Water dark as coffee, lots of drafting grass. Water temp 79-81. Caught trout steady all day. Saw a huge tarpon jump 2-3 times @ 200 yards away. Saw a couple small ones roll near the boat. Caught 8 keeper, 2 very nice ones. They were all dark like the water but nice and fat. Gulp, DOA, pinfish, cut lady fish all caught trout. Jigging on bottom and w Cajun Thunder. Lots of lady fish, sail cats and cats, little sharks, a jack and a good size bluefish. Great day and lots of fun.
Only been to Aucilla once before @ 15 yrs ago.
Did not find any rocks, but I know they are there.
What's the deal w the launch fee? Signs about fines everywhere, but nowhere to pay, no envelopes, nuthin? I will go again, but want to avoid a fine.

Someone jacked the box back in the spring I think. Been nothing up since. I even tried to call Taylor County to pay over the phone (just wanna pay my fair share), but they can only take payments in person. I been lauching there a bunch and no way to pay, so I have not worried about it.
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?

So the pass is good for the public ramp at Keaton? How about Econfina?

Is it calendar year or for 12 months from date purchased?

Thanks.

The pass is good for County maintained ramps only. Any Taylor County ramp. Keaton Beach, Dark Island, Aucilla River, and I believe one at Steinhatchee. Twelve months from date of purchase. You can also get it at the Highway Patrol Station on Hwy 19 coming into Perry on the right, so you don't have to go downtown to the courthouse.
