Need a suggestion for where to get my Yamaha serviced
I have a 16' skiff cc with a 40 hp Yamaha. Every once in a while I will be on plain and lose some power down to half throttle. I turn it off and start her back up and no problems. Also a new problem - now I can't even get up to full throttle because the lever is jammed. I literally have to push as hard as I can to get to full throttle, obviously not ideal and probably bad for it to be putting that much pressure....WELL does anybody have any suggestions where I can have someone fix these problems??? Or if someone on here can fix it I would be willing to go through you if the price is fair. Please let me know on this message or text me 386-316-5218. Thanks guys!

If you're in Tallahassee, take it to "Gus" over at "The Shop" over off Spring Hill Road. Gus will stand behind his work and charges a fair price.
It's probably something simple as an adjustment or something has slipped. (just guessing)
The Shop
2607 Springhill Rd
Tallahassee, FL 32305
(850) 575-2299
Gus owns the place and has been there for years.
If you want you can take it to Woodville to
"Porter Marine"
9355 Elgin Rd
Tallahassee, FL 32305
(850) 421-1490
Ask for Waivel, he owns the business. Been there for years and years
He's a small engine specialist, (has a bunch of them around his shop)
Sometimes they don't answer the phone.

Parkway Marine is an authorized Yamaha service center, and a site sponsor.

pete at sunshine boats is very knowledgable and will spend the time to explain your boat issues. He is also reasonably priced.

First time posting...long time lurking. My Carolina Skiff 1655 DLX is currently at Parkway Marine being outfitted with a new Yamaha 50 4 stroke mid range. Had a Johnson 40 PLSR previously. Anyway, I have heard that they do good work so I decided to give them a try.

Sounds like one of your issues may be a throttle cable problem. Be careful, I had mine break just after putting the boat in the water, while I started to idle to the dock, my cable broke. When it did, my throttle went wide open and I had no reverse. Almost hit the dock with considerable momentum. Good luck

Pete is the man! He has helped me with my 250 OX66. He knows engines like no one else Ive talked to. He really does take the time to explain what is going on in the motor.
