Bait Fish?

Post by Flats Rascal »

While fishing at St. Marks this past Saturday, a school of hundreds of little fish swarmed around the boat. Probably no more than an inch or two long. Flashy, reflective and purple-ish in color? So many excited at the surface that it sounded like rain. Are these small menhaden?

Don't remember ever seeing one before so I dunno.

Thanks in advance.

There were many schools of glass minnows around on Saturday, even up East River.

Sounds like glass minnow also known as "rain minnows" because well you know now. They are a favorite baitfish for spanish mackeral.
