First I want to thank my lovely wife for surprising me by setting up this trip. Love you baby.

Fishing CPA(aka Daniel) and I got to the Shell Island Fish Camp at 6:30 To let them know we were there and to see when we could get into our cabin. We launched there at 6:30 armed with some great info graciously supplied by Bman and headed out the river. We were greeted with nice conditions and headed over to the edge of the flats to catch some pinfish.

ImageShack.usWe loaded the livewell with pin and pigfish and headed out to the St Marks reef and got anchored up. Fished there for a while or should I say fed the fish.

With only a few hits and small pinkmouths to show for it. So we decided to head on out to the Dog Ballard and try there. It was rougher out there and the fish still would not cooperate with us. Since it was lunch time and getting rough out there we decided to run in to scallop near black rock. The run was very rough with tight stacked seas and we even took one over the bow. We got to our scalloping spot and got in the water. We soon realized that we could not see a dang thing since the water was all stirred up. Decided to give up on the scallops and ran over to the west flats to trout fish. Started raining on us while we were fishing by the stakeline so we eased over near Live oak Island and started picking up some trout. I talked to Bman on the phone and he suggested going real shallow before dark, but the wind picked back up and the rain started moving in. But we still managed 4 trout and 1 croaker along with dozens of shorts.

ImageShack.usNothing like a good meal to end a good day. We caught what we got today in 4-6' on purp/yellow and nuclear chicken gulp. The water temp was 82 all day. We had a great time out there today stay tuned for part 2.
