Music

Post by Rhettley »

Music is my favorite escape. Here are some youtube links to some of my current favorites. What are you folks listening to these days? I’m always open to hearing new stuff. Sometimes when I can’t sleep I get on youtube and play something I like then start trying out all the other suggested music that shows up on the right. You can find some great music from some lesser know musicians this way.

Corey Smith- live concert

A couple of my favorites from the concert-
Just Got Paid Today. Some great guitar here.

India Mountain Time. Laid back song. Good for using headphones and kicking back.

I like both types of music, country and western. Seriously tho, classic rock and hippie rock. Love some Govt mule. The TT band brings it also. Good topic!

I have been a Derek Trucks fan since he was 13 playing in clubs in Central Florida. He was amazing then, even more so now. He made Rolling Stone top 100 all time guitarists at 27 years old.

Wanee 2010 was the last year TTB closed the night out on the mushroom stage. The wife and I were right at the stage between them. That was 2 hours of the best music in the best setting I've ever experienced. Here are a couple of videos taken from that night.

While I'm on Wanee, here's some of our pictures from 2011. These were taken with one of those little point and shoot Kodaks. The wife bought a really nice Cannon this summer so the next concert pictures should be sharper.
The wife and I got to talk to John Popper of Blues Traveler.

Grown into a HUGE Mofro / JJ Grey fan this year!   "Brighter Days" and "Lochlossa" both near the top of the list. Here are some other favorites at the top of the list:

And this one that makes me badly want to make it to huge annual family reunion in S.C., where all my Aunts learned to cook from my grandmother who cooked OLD-SCHOOL style / cast-iron in the fireplace old-school! :lick:

Also a Joe Bonamassa fan. Used my absolutele favorite Bonamassa song a while back for an Ecky river video.

gyrene which cd is The River from? I've found several live videos of it on youtube. It and Mountain are my two favorites Joe does.
John Popper was a really nice guy to meet in person and man can he make a harp wail in person! He was talking to a kid before as we were standing there and he did a magic trick for the kid, making one of his harmonicas appear. It was one he had just used in his performance and the top cover was bent up from him mashing on it. He gave it to the kid which I thought was cool. I'm sure that made an impression on the kid.
I have some really old videos of JJ Grey singing solo in a little joint in SC. It looks like it could be St. Marks or somewhere like that. I'll post one.

This guy has some interesting music. Most of it is quite humorous. He wrote the famous song "It's A Great Day To Whoop Somebody's Azz" and tells hilarious stories before most of his songs. The song I'm posting is a very serious song. I lost my mother a year and 10 days ago and this song really makes me think of her. I can't get through it without getting something in my eye.

Rhettley, sorry for the delay.... just got around to looking it up, as I actually first heard the song through Spotify's online radio program and didn't know the answer. It's from the "Had to Cry Today" album.

Mofro did a free concert on FSU campus back in 2004. Hung out with JJ for about an hour after they were finished playing. Almost had him talked into a fishing trip the following morning. Didn't happen but he sure is a down to earth, simply cool dude. Been listening to them since 03. What a great band!
