Where at the Turkey Point Flats should I fish?

Post by Forrest »

Which side would be best on a rising tide? Which would be best on a falling tide? I’m thinking the outside is best for me because I’ve walked boats off too many times when the tide dropped too much. The East side looks interesting as the channel is not far away but I’ve never fished over there. Any advice is appreciated as I don’t get much time to fish I have to make the most of it when I do.

By no means am I an expert, but I've generally fished the seaward (south) side of the Shoals. I generally motor south until I'm in 6-8 feet of water, and then let the wind drift me up to 2-3 feet next to the bar. Crank up and drift again. I've caught a lot of interesting fish on the Shoals. Also make sure and give DI Reef a try. A couple of miles South of there but some good fish there as well.
